Yes I know what it boils down to is having your own set of creative ingredients, in addition to those written on paper, you can add to the mix, like creative ability, common sense, etc. Today I've discovered, no I won't lie, I've always known it, I don't possess creative ability and common sense! If someone asked me whether I had common sense I would say, yes of course, by the bucket load! But then things go wrong, the penny drops and you're just left thinking.... duh!
Just so annoyed today that I completely messed up the recipe. What annoys me more than anything is the waste of ingredients and having to put each poor, failed cupcake into the bin!
The raspberry crumble cupcakes I made today looked wonderful, peering into the oven I just couldn't wait to eat one! But when I tried to lift them out of the muffin tray they seemed very reluctant! They were kind of heavy and my lovely yellow gingham cupcake cases, which I was looking forward to photographing, were oily and no longer resembled yellow gingham!
The recipe listed a quantity of raspberries but did not say how to include them so I simply put them all into the mix and blended well... a fatal mistake I now know. I guess I should have put them in whole or quartered them and gently folded them into the mix.
Oh well, I'll try again, adding the common sense bit and hopefully they'll turn out fluffy with chunks of raspberry rather than a purple gooey mess :)
